At Coles we believe we have the right balance of experience and technological expertise for any mechanical challenge that comes our way. Our mechanics have either been Coles trained from the beginning of their careers or have come to us from a main agent. We are lucky to have a group of engineers who take enormous pride in their work and will leave no stone unturned until a problem is solved.
Many members of the seven-man team work with specific makes of car, for example Tony, one of our longest-serving technicians, has vast experience with Ford and Land Rover and is our diagnostics expert whereas Brad is our on-site Vauxhall and Citroën guru.
We also recognise that a good service is not just about what goes on under the bonnet. Our front of house team, led by Richard and Dave, will make sure your experience at Coles is second to none.
Alex has 33 years of experience as an engineer and mechanic, both in Sussex and on the off-road motorsport circuit. He has proudly maintained the high standards of Coles quality, workmanship and value for his customers, whether they are new to Coles or have been visiting him since 1987.
You might even see Jim Cole, who, at the grand age of 90 years young, still comes to the workshop most days with his little dog Sparky to make sure things are running smoothly. Jim built an entire life-size replica of a Lancaster cockpit, which can be seen in the Coles reception. He is regularly seen driving his vintage 1942 jeep which he lovingly restored with Alex back in the 1980s. He takes great pleasure in driving his jeep at the Goodwood Festival of Speed each year.
The final (and probably least productive) member of the team is Dave, the Workshop Dog, who is usually found in a sunny spot somewhere or checking if the parts delivery drivers have brought him a treat. What he lacks in mechanical knowledge he makes up for in enthusiasm!
